BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Alabama-based Saks Inc.
is selling a 140-store division to Bon-Ton Stores Inc. of
Pennsylvania for about $1.1 billion.SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS
Saks' Northern department-store group, which includes the
Younkers, Herberger's, Carson Pirie Scott, Bergner's and Boston
Store brands, are mostly in the Midwest and Great Plains and
generate yearly revenues of $2.2 billion.
The Wall Street Journal said that Saks was expected to
announce the deal Monday.
Bon-Ton of York, Pa., operates 142 department stores in 16
states with yearly sales of $1.3 billion. The 107-year-old company
has a market capitalization of about $278 million.
