MUMBAI, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Monday during his visit to India that trade between the two countries should increase.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Canwest News Service said Harper's comments came as he was addressing a business crowd in Mumbai, part of his three-day visit to the Asian country.

"Our countries share tremendous commercial interests and have great potential for increased trade", Harper said regarding the countries' gross domestic product. "Between us, our GDP is well on its way to $4 trillion. Yet at the moment, we are only doing $5 billion worth of business per year."

Harper also detailed a plan to have the Canadian Tourism Commission begin a campaign aimed at attracting Indian nationals to Canada. As part of the tourism effort, popular Indian film star Akshay Kumar will carry the Olympic torch in Toronto on Dec. 17.

Canwest said Harper also spoke about nuclear talks between his country and Canada, saying no final decisions on the matter will be made while he is visiting India.

"It is my sincere hope that our two governments will complete our bilateral nuclear cooperation agreement soon", Harper said.
