CHICAGO, June 1 (UPI) -- U.S. grain futures closed higher Monday as equities posted a strong day and oil prices rose above $68 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

On the Chicago Board of Trade, corn futures were up 9 1/2 to up 10, soybeans were up 23 1/2 to up 34 1/2, wheat was up 36 3/4 to up 37 1/4 and oats were up 2 1/4 to up 3 1/4.

Corn futures rose as the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported 93 percent of the crop planted and 73 percent emerged. Spring wheat is 89 percent planted, the weekly crop report said. Soybeans are 66 percent planted against a five-year average of 79 percent for this week of the year.

The prices:

Corn: Jul 4.45 3/4, up 9 1/2; Sep 4.55 3/4, up 9 1/2; Dec 4.69 1/4, up 10; Mar 4.79, up 9 3/4.

Soybeans: Jul 12.18 1/2, up 34 1/2; Aug 11.75 1/2, up 27; Sep 11.21, up 24 1/2; Nov 10.86, up 23 1/2.

Wheat: 6.74 1/2, up 37 1/4; Sep 7.01, up 37 1/4; Dec 7.23, up 37; Mar 7.38 1/4, up 36 3/4.

Oats: Jul 2.54, up 3; Sep 2.63 1/2, up 3; Dec 2.74, up 3 1/4; Mar 2.87, up 2 1/4.
