The auction for the lyrics of the final song on the Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album ends March 7, the London-based Bonhams auction house told the BBC.

Lennon wrote the song for The Beatles after learning of the January 1967 death of his friend, Guinness heir Tara Browne, the BBC said.

The estate of Beatles road manager Mal Evans sold the manuscript to an unknown collector in 1992 for $100,000.

A Bonhams spokesman said "market history" indicates the final bid could be as high as $2 million, which would make it the most valuable 20th century musical manuscript ever sold in an auction.
