ATLANTA, July 1 (UPI) -- The wife of U.S. R&B star Usher says that contrary to his divorce petition, they had been living together and the move came as a surprise to her.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

In his June 12 divorce petition, Usher, whose full name is Usher Raymond, claimed he and wife Tameka Foster had been separated since June 2008. But in documents filed this week in Atlanta, she claims they had been "intimately together" less than a week before the petition was filed, E! Online reported.

In the new documents, Foster's attorney said she had "every reason to believe her marriage was intact", the Web site reported. They indicated she is seeking financial support from Usher.

E! Online said the pair were married in August 2007.
