LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles County coroner's office says film actress Brittany Murphy died from pneumonia, iron-deficiency anemia and multiple-drug intoxication.

Murphy, whose movie credits include "Clueless", "Girl Interrupted", "8 Mile", "Sin City" and "Happy Feet", died Dec. 20. She was 32.

Initial autopsy results were inconclusive and authorities said they would wait for toxicology tests to be conducted before determining how she died.

TMZ Thursday reported the coroner's office declared her death accidental.

The entertainment news Web site also said in the report released Thursday, authorities noted "drug intake" on the line for "how injury occurred."

The drugs Murphy took were a prescription for cramps and over-the-counter medications, including cough syrup, TMZ said.

"This death could've been preventable", Assistant Chief Ed Winter from the coroner's office told People.com. "Murphy was planning on seeing a doctor, but she unfortunately passed away before she did. This was a case of a person with pneumonia who was anemic (having a low blood count) who was taking medication when she should've been getting medical treatment."

Murphy's mother and husband have previously denied press rumors an eating disorder, mental illness or drug abuse played a role in the actress' death.

Instead, they said they were convinced she died of a congenital heart murmur.
