Deborah McDonald, 47, of Crystal Rock, spent her last day Tuesday with her husband, Robert, and friends Sherry Blissit and Darrell Ring, the Sandusky (Ohio) Register reported.

The four were out at a restaurant for a meal treated by McDonald the day she received a $5,520 check after winning $8,000 in the Ohio Lottery Cash Explosion Double Play. The TV episode with McDonald is scheduled to air this Saturday, the newspaper said.

During the celebration, McDonald, the mother of six children, left and had gone a few hundred feet along the highway when she was struck by a car driven by Eleanor Stults, 48, of Fremont. McDonald died instantly, the Register said.

Stultz was devastated and said she did not see McDonald. She likely will not be charged, said the State Highway Patrol's Kent Jeffries.

McDonald bought gifts for her friends and wedding rings for Robert and herself, and made plans to invest with her husband in a fishing boat so they could start a business. They hoped a fishing business would allow them to see better economic times, the Register reported.

"Her husband was gonna be captain. She was going to be first mate, and Darrell and I were going to be (deck) hands. Life was happy-go-lucky for her, said Blissit.

"It happened so fast -- before we knew it, she got hit. I felt for a pulse and couldn't feel one. To have something and have it taken so fast ... I'm glad we went out and had the last day we had", Blissit said.
