NEW YORK, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- NBC has picked up the comedy "Parks and Recreation" for a third season, a representative for the U.S. TV network says.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The NBC representative confirmed the comedy, starring Amy Poehler and Aziz Ansari, received an early third season pick-up so the network could lock in the schedules of the sitcom's actors, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

During its sophomore season, "Parks" enjoyed an average of 5.1 million viewers, including an average 2.3 rating among adults ages 18-49.

Among viewership in that highly sought-after age range, "Parks" ranked in the Top 15 prime time TV series.

The Reporter said while "Parks" ranked lowest in ratings among fellow NBC series "The Office", "30 Rock" and "Community", those three comedies have yet to be renewed.
