NEW YORK, July 2 (UPI) -- Run-DMC and the late Jam Master Jay's street cred may take a hit, but their legacy gets a boost with the renaming of a New York street corner after the group.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Officials announced Tuesday the New York City Council voted to name the corner of 205th Street and Hollis Avenue in Queens "Run-DMC JMJ Way", WPIX-TV, New York, reports.

The hip-hop group, which is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, disbanded after Jam Master Jay, real name Jason Mizell, was gunned down at a recording studio in Queens in 2002. No one has ever been charged in the 37-year-old rapper's death.

Council Member Leroy Comrie says Darryl "DMC" McDaniels has donated memorabilia to start up a Hollis Hip Hop Museum at the former Hollis Famous Burger eatery a couple of blocks away from the newly named intersection.

Now fans will know where to go when they hear the seminal singers tell them to "Walk This Way", the groundbreaking duet Run-DMC rapped with Aerosmith, the song's original performer.
