NEW YORK, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Former baseball star Bud Harrelson's son is being charged with hindering prosecution in the murder of a former police officer in New York, a report says.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Harrelson's son, Troy, 19, is alleged to have helped Zachary Gibian dispose of bloody clothes and the sword allegedly used to kill retired Manhattan officer Scott Nager, Gibian's stepfather, the New York Post reported Sunday.

"There's a cooperation agreement between district attorney's office and Harrelson", said Robert Clifford, the Suffolk County district attorney spokesperson. "After the trial, he will be pleading guilty to one count of hindering prosecution."

"From what I understand, he (Bud Harrelson) is a good man. I feel sorry for him, I do, because he must be going through hell", said Nager's aunt, Shirley Nager-Stein.

But Nager-Stein said she thinks that the young Harrelson doesn't deserve any sympathy from anyone, the Post reported.

"Troy Harrelson should be in jail, he knew it was going to happen", she said. "He could have stopped a murder and if he really was as good (a friend to) Zachary, he wouldn't let him become a murderer."

Prosecutors alleged Gibian killed Nager in February 2005 with a samurai sword.

The Harrelson trial is set for Oct. 4.
