DETROIT, May 20 (UPI) -- As the title of his new album, "Room Service", implies, Canadian rocker Bryan Adams did a bit of the recording in hotels.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

"My time had run out because I was about to head on tour", said Adams, who recorded parts of the album while playing shows in Europe last year.

"We put together a small system and decided we'd do little overdubs on tour, see how it was going, see if we had a record. We ended up doing the whole album that way. It was nice to be able to wake up and think 'I can still work on my album instead of sitting in a ... hotel room."

"Room Service" is Adams' first album in seven years, since 1998's "On a Day Like Today." Since then he's released a best-of compilation and a live album and wrote songs for the soundtrack to "Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron." He also published a celebrity photo book, "American Women", with proceeds going to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Adams kicks off the "Rock 'N Roll Double-Header" tour of minor league baseball stadiums with Def Leppard June 1, in Portland, Ore.
