Itar-Tass reports an army soldier was killed and eight special task force agents were wounded in the fight Tuesday.

Col. Abdulmanap Musayev, chief of the regional Interior Ministry's press service, said the operation was halted overnight and started again Wednesday morning.

He told Itar-Tass the militants are close to the village of Gimry.

Musayev said up to five militants have been killed, Itar-Tass reported.
