| NAIN, Newfoundland, Dec. 27 (UPI) -- The Maritime Rescue Center in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, said a shrimp trawler is returning to its Canadian home after barely surviving a fire. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS The center said the fire on board the Northern Eagle took place Christmas night as the trawler was traveling off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Sunday. The Northern Eagle's home port is in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. The center said the fire that broke out in the ship's factory room Friday night caused extensive damage to the vessel and nearly forced the trawler's 28-person crew to abandon ship. The CBC said crew members were eventually able to contain the fire, whose cause was not released, without suffering any injuries. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
