K. Ravikanth, the top administrative official of Kota district, said 11 bodies had so far been pulled from the wreckage of Thursday's mishap, CNN reported.

Ravikanth said the victims fell into the Chambal River. The collapsed bridge has been under construction since 2007. It was reportedly a joint venture between Indian and South Korean companies.

Kota is located about 250 miles southwest of New Delhi.
