CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The fiancee of the late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry will not face criminal charges in connection with his death in Charlotte, N.C. last month, police say.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer said Thursday that police confirmed they are not charging Loleini Tonga, 25, for her role in the Dec. 16 accident that claimed the life of the Cincinnati Bengals player.

Police said while Tonga was operating the truck that Henry fell from during the incident, there was no evidence proving she was speeding or driving recklessly at the time.

Henry, 26, died the day after the accident and a medical examiner determined the wide receiver died of blunt force trauma to the head from a fall.

The Observer said Tonga told ESPN this week she suspects Henry leaped from the back of the pickup truck on purpose and did not intend to hurt himself.

Tonga and Henry were scheduled to marry in March. The couple had three children together.

The Observer said the deadly incident occurred as Henry was visiting Tonga while on injured reserve with the Bengals due to a broken arm.
