SAN DIEGO, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The body of a sailor missing from a U.S. destroyer was recovered from the Gulf of Oman, officials said Wednesday.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The sailor was reported missing Tuesday after failing to report for a scheduled watch on the USS Halsey, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported. An air and surface search began in the gulf.

CNN said the sailor was a woman, although the Navy released no personal details.

The Halsey, based in San Diego, had been in the western Pacific and Arabian Sea with the carrier Abraham Lincoln since leaving port in September.
