HOUSTON, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Federal officials said Saturday they will not fight a CNN lawsuit challenging the policy of barring the news media from the recovery of bodies in New Orleans.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honore announced Friday that in order to preserve the dignity of those killed by Katrina news media would not be allowed to cover Joint Task Force Katrina's recovery effort.

But the government had a change of heart after the lawsuit was filed and a federal judge in Houston granted CNN a temporary restraining order.

The task force "has no plans to bar, impede or prevent news media from their news gathering and reporting activities in connection with the deceased Hurricane Katrina victim recovery efforts", said Col. Christian E. deGraff, a task force spokesman.
