PORTLAND, Ore., May 31 (UPI) -- John Nash will not be back next season as the general manager of the NBA's Portland Trailblazers.

He was relieved of his duties on Tuesday.

Team president President Steve Patterson will serve as interim general manager a search for Nash's replacement is conducted.

"All of us at the Trail Blazers appreciate John's effort and hard work under difficult circumstances and thank him for the enormous class he displayed throughout his time here", Patterson said.

Mash was GM for three years after working as a TV color commentator for two seasons.

Also, he was a GM in the NBA for 15 years in Philadelphia, Washington and New Jersey and was part of the 76ers' organization when the club won the NBA title in 1983.

With a mark of 21-61 in the 2005-06 season, the Trailblazers had their worst record since 1973, when they had the same record.
