ATLANTA, April 2 (UPI) -- Kelly Buchberger scored his first goal in more than a year Friday night and Jean-Sebastien Aubin made 31 saves as Pittsburgh edged Atlanta, 3-2.

Buchberger ended an 86-game drought 96 seconds into the second period to give Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead. The puck caromed off the left boards and Buchberger banked it off the pad of goaltender Pasi Nurminen for his first goal since March 4, 2003.

Lasse Pirjeta opened the scoring with 72 seconds left in the first period. Coming down the right side, he slipped the puck past Nurminen for his sixth goal.

Dany Heatley halved Atlanta's deficit at 9:26 of the second. He emerged from a battle for the puck at the blue line and skated through the defense before wristing it by Aubin for his 13th goal.

The Thrashers pulled Nurminen for an extra attacker in the final minute, but Aleksey Morozov scored his 16th goal into the empty net seven seconds later.
