PARIS, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- A move by soccer officials to ban Togo from the next two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments is outrageous, the team captain says.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor Saturday blasted a decision by the Confederation of Africa Football to ban Togo and fine it $50,000 for pulling out of this year's finals after a terror attack on their team bus in Angola left three dead, CNN reported.

The U.S. broadcaster said Adebayor, who is also a star for England's Manchester City, told the French sports newspaper L'Equipe that CAF's President Issa Hayatou had "completely betrayed" the Togo soccer team and suggested it was time for him to step down.

"Mr. Hayatou has served Africa extensively, but now he must escape", Adebayor reportedly asserted. "This decision is outrageous."

CNN said three people were killed in the attack, including team communications chief Stanislas Ocloo and assistant coach Abalo Amnalete, when their bus was attacked by separatists this month as it traveled through Angola two days before their opening match.
