| KANKAKEE, Ill., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- The terminally ill wife of jailed former Illinois Gov. George Ryan is home from the hospital but may have only weeks to live, an attorney said. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS Lura Lynn Ryan, 76, left Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee Thursday but her condition is "very grave", Ryan's attorney, former Gov. James Thompson, told the Chicago Tribune. Lura Ryan has incurable metastatic lung cancer that has spread to her back, pelvis, ribs and liver, doctors said. "The hospital has done all that it can do", Thompson said. "They got her stabilized, and she was allowed to go home. But her condition is still very grave." George Ryan, serving a 6 1/2-year term at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind., for mail fraud and racketeering, recently was allowed to visit his wife for 2 hours and has requested an extended furlough. Ryan's lawyers appealed his verdict after the U.S. Supreme Court last year undermined the "honest services" fraud law under which he was convicted. Their brief will be filed by Feb. 7, Thompson said. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
