| JOS, Nigeria, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- A 24-hour curfew has been imposed on the Nigerian city of Jos where fighting between Christians and Muslims has left scores of people dead, the army said. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS Lt. Col. Shekari Galadima said the military has retained control of the city and there will be no more rioting, the BBC reported Wednesday. "Our troops in combination with the police are fully deployed and fully on the ground to check all movements", he told the BBC's Network Africa program. The Red Cross, unable to get into Jos on Tuesday, said it has entered the town and is treating the wounded. It is unclear what set off the latest round of violence but some residents were quoted as saying it began over an argument on rebuilding of homes destroyed during 2008 clashes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
