POLL: Your Opinion

NEW YORK, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Film and TV actor Alec Baldwin said if he does choose to make a run for a political office, such electoral efforts would have to take place in New York.

The "30 Rock" star would not confirm he was planning on an electoral run, but did discuss the potential problems he would likely face if making a foray into the New York political world, The Washington Post said Sunday.

"I'm a New Yorker and I live here, so if I run for office, I prefer to do that here", Baldwin told the Post. "And in New York, it's more complicated here than a lot of other places. There are lots of entitlements here, a lot of people who just presume the job belongs to them because they've been in line. ... So, I really don't know."

Baldwin, 51, did offer specifics regarding his approach to comedy in "30 Rock", saying taking a "real" approach to comedic acting is the ideal.

"It's the same for me as for every (actor). The more real you can play it, the better. You just try to play the scene. If the scene is funny, play the scene. Don't try to make it funny", said Baldwin, who plays Jack Donaghy on the NBC comedy series.
