Dixie County Sheriff's Capt. Chad Reed, 33, was shot in the face by a suspect who slipped through a police dragnet following an incident at a home in suburban Brooksville, The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Friday.

Deputies used helicopters and ground units to pursue John Kalisz, 55, who they tracked to a gas station in Cross City. Police say Kalisz shot Reed before deputies could wound Kalisz.

Kalisz was wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of two women and the wounding of two others Thursday.

Police said one of the dead women, Kathryn Donovan, 61, was Kalisz's sister.

Hernando County Sheriff Richard Nugent said the shootings apparently involved a domestic dispute.
