OTTAWA, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Retail sales in Canada edged up in November for the sixth consecutive month, posting a 1.3 percent gain to $37.3 billion, Statistics Canada reported Friday.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The increase was the largest since March 2010, the report said.

"Gains were reported in eight of 11 subsectors representing roughly 90 percent of total sales", StatsCan said.

The largest sector increase was in motor vehicle and parts dealers, up 2.7 percent from October.

Clothing and clothing accessories stores registered a 2.4 percent sales increase in November while sales at sporting goods, hobby, book and music stores rose 1.7 percent, the report said.

"The largest decline occurred at electronics and appliances stores where sales fell 2.2 percent, more than offsetting the gain reported in October", the report said. "This was the first decline in sales since July 2010."
