Soldiers in Malakand are to receive an increase equivalent to one month's pay, Zardari said in an address Friday.

Zardari said the new garrison in the contested Swat Valley would combat Taliban militants who sow terror and have disrupted the lives of hundreds of thousands in the region, Dwn, Pakistan's English-language newspaper, reported.

"We will, however, win the war against militants with the support of the people, political parties and parliament", Zardari said.
