LONDON, June 4 (UPI) -- U.S. author Marilynne Robinson was presented with the Orange Prize for Fiction for her third novel, "Home",

during a ceremony at London's Royal Festival Hall.

A previous winner of the Pulitzer Prize for her 2004 book "Gilead", Robinson Wednesday beat five other female fiction writers from around the world for the Orange honor, which included a $48,000 cash prize, the BBC said.

Fi Glover, chair of judges, described "Home" as a "kind, wise, enriching novel" that was "exquisitely crafted."

"We were unanimously agreed -- it is a profound work of art", Glover added.

Francesca Kay also picked up the New Writers award for her debut novel, "An Equal Stillness", the BBC said.

The Economist said Kay was raised in Southeast Asia and India, and is now based in Oxford, England.
