MOSUL, Iraq, June 29 (UPI) -- A car bomb Monday killed at least nine police officers and wounded two others in Mosul, Iraqi officials said.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The parked car detonated near a convoy of officers in the northern part of the city, an Interior Ministry official told CNN.

The bombing occurred one day before a deadline for U.S. combat troops to withdraw from cities and towns in Iraq.

In the future, U.S. combat troops and their vehicles can only enter cities and towns at the request and direction of Iraqi authorities, the U.S. military has said.
