Even as other high-profile conservatives such as U.S. Reps. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., and Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., have dropped out of the Thursday gathering of anti-big government proponents after being advised to do by the House ethics experts, Palin wrote in a USA Today opinions piece she's moving ahead because she shares with the group "a vision that promotes common sense solutions to out-of control spending and an out-of-touch political establishment."

Asserting, "I will not benefit financially from speaking at this event", Palin promised to donate her $100,000 speaking fee.

The former Alaska governor wrote that her "only goal is to support the grassroots activists who are fighting for responsible, limited government -- and our Constitution. In that spirit, any compensation for my appearance will go right back to the cause."

Palin also indicated she'd be involved in other Tea Party events as well.

"This weekend, it's Nashville, but in March, I'll head to Searchlight, Nev., for the kickoff rally at the Tea Party Express III", she said. "In April, I'll be in Boston for a Tea Party gathering there."
