| TORONTO, April 3 (UPI) -- Canadian doctors and patients have a new online tool to manage chronic diseases more effectively, the Canadian Medical Association said. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS The Web site mydoctor.ca, initiated by the Canadian Medical Association, is a secure portal that allows patients to input health information and lets them track their blood pressure, asthma and weight loss to better manage chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes, the Toronto-Star reported. The portal, created by Practice Solutions, a Canadian Medical Association company, will be marketed to physicians and will cost $236 a year for them to buy the entire suite of tools for their practice. The portal is designed to be as secure as online banking. Dr. Brian Day, head of the association, said more than 70 percent of healthcare costs stem from chronic care and the Web site might help reduce costs in the long term since it will allow doctors to better manage patients with chronic diseases. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
