SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS In the week ending Aug. 2, sales were up 2.9 percent from a year ago, marking the strongest weekly gain since Dec. 1, on a year-over-year basis, the report said. Customer traffic "moderated a tad nationally", the report said, rising in the 11 states -- and the District of Columbia -- which began back-to-school tax holidays, the report said. Sales were stronger in the week at apparel-specialty shops, wholesale clubs and bookstores, the report said. ICSC noted the national average price for gasoline has fallen 23.4 cents in the past four weeks, returning some discretionary cash to U.S. consumers. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
