WASHINGTON, May 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of IntelliSwitch fireplace wall controls due to risk of property damage.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Manufacturer Hearth and Home Technology Inc. of Lakeville, Minn., which makes the fireplaces, has received 13 reports of wall switches causing fireplaces to turn on spontaneously, CPSC said in a statement.

The switches were made by Nortech Systems Inc. of Wayzata, Minn.

About 22,000 of the WSK-300 switches, sold with Heat and Glo gas direct vent fireplaces, were distributed between January 2007 and January 2008, retailing for between $2,800 and $3,500. The switches, if purchased separately, retailed for about $180.

Consumers were advised to disable the fireplace until repairs could be made.

Consumers can also call Hearth and Home Technologies at 800-215-5152 for more information.
