LONDON, June 28 (UPI) -- Noted British artist Paula Rego says her London studio would cease to be a place for artistic endeavors if its natural light is blocked out.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The 73-year-old painter said she decided to take action against a neighbor who plans to add two floors to a garage next door, The Times of London reported Saturday.

The additional floors would block out the natural light that shines into the studio, which would be detrimental to her work, Rego maintains.

"I have produced my best work here. It's my home now, my playroom and it's impossible to find another studio like this", said Rego, whose works have hung in the Tate Museum. "It would affect me terribly."

MDA Motors owner Nino de Angelis told the Times he does not believe his project would be a hindrance if his construction plans are approved.

"I don't think it's going to block her light out. I doubt it very much. If she feels that it impinges on her light she has to prove it", he said. "It is not up to her just to say that -- this is what planning permission is for."
