NEW YORK, July 16 (UPI) -- The new West End production of Friedrich Schiller's play "Mary Stuart" is heading to Broadway next spring, the show's producers said.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Janet McTeer and Harriet Walter are to reprise their respective roles of Mary, Queen of Scots, and Elizabeth I when the production opens in New York's Shubert theater.

The new version based on Schiller's 1800 play was written by Peter Oswald and directed by Phyllida Lloyd. The stage drama had a sold-out run when it was at the Donmar Warehouse in the summer of 2005. It then transferred to the West End where it played Oct. 7, 2005 to Jan. 14, 2006.

Further casting, other members of the creative team and ticket information are expected to be announced soon, the producers said.

McTeer will be making her first Broadway appearance since her Tony Award-winning performance in "A Doll's House" in 1997.

Walter is returning to Broadway for the first time since her performance in the Royal Shakespeare Company's "All's Well That Ends Well" in 1983.

This is the first Broadway production of "Mary Stuart" in almost 40 years.
