LONDON, July 12 (UPI) -- A graffiti vandal whose legal work was featured on the British TV series "EastEnders" will spend the next two years in prison, a judge has ruled.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Judge Christopher Hardy said while Andrew Gillman's works do reveal artistic ability, the 25-year-old repeatedly painted on other people's property, The Times of London reported Saturday.

"It would be wrong of me not to acknowledge that some examples of your handiwork show considerable artistic talent, part of what is now known as the graffiti subculture and on the way to being recognized as a valid form of art", Hardy said during Friday's sentencing. "The trouble is that it has been sprayed all over other people's property without their consent and that is simply vandalism."

The BBC hired Gillman to spray his artistic tag "NEAS" on the set of "EastEnders", a BBC1 soap opera filmed in the county of Hertfordshire.

The Times said while that action was legal, Gillman was arrested in connection with a group that illegally tagged trains and railways.
