| ZHANJIANG, China, June 28 (UPI) -- The Japanese warship Sazanami left a southern Chinese port Saturday after a historic five-day visit. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS The destroyer was the first Japanese military vessel to visit China since World War II, Xinhua, the government news agency, reported. The commander of the Chinese South Sea Fleet saluted the Japanese crew at a farewell ceremony Saturday morning in Zhanjiang. "Please send the love and friendship of the Chinese Navy and people back to Japan", Lt. Gen. Su Shiliang told Maj.-Gen. Shinichi Tokumaru of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force. The Sazanami was scheduled to go through sea maneuvers with Chinese naval vessels before heading back to its home port. The visits combined serious business -- including seminars for officers from both navies on disaster relief and other concerns -- with sports events and concerts. The Sazanami held an open house Friday for local residents. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Related News Topics:
