SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- A Salt Lake City man has pleaded guilty to a criminal charge stemming from his decision to leave his young son alone in a car while he saw a movie.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The Salt Lake Tribune said Thursday that 23-year-old David James Farnham pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment this week for going to see a movie for more than an hour while his 2-year-old son, Justin, sat in a parked car.

Police found the young child alone inside a car near the South Salt Lake movie theater on July 20 after receiving a call from a concerned movie patron.

Charging documents in the case allege the child was crying and sweating when police located him sitting in car seat inside the vehicle.

Police traced Farnham to an early morning screening of "The Dark Knight" at the movie theater and stopped the film in order to place him under arrest.

The young child was handed over to his mother following his removal from the car, which police allege had an internal temperature of 87 degrees at the time.

The Tribune said Farnham is scheduled to be sentenced on the charge on Jan. 20, 2009.
