NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Film and TV star Danny Glover asked people at the Democratic National Convention to pray that the New Orleans area escapes the wrath of Tropical Storm Gustav.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The New Orleans Times-Picayune said the "Lethal Weapon" hero asked Louisiana's delegates at the convention in Denver Thursday morning to join him in a silent prayer for Gustav to pass the area by.

"The people in Louisiana have already been through enough", the newspaper quoted Glover as saying.

The actor, who was seen recently on the TV series "Brothers and Sisters", has been a vocal supporter of the region since Hurricane Katrina ravaged it in 2005.
