NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Actor and comedian Richard Belzer has agreed to be the host of the 7th Directors Guild of America Honors, the DGA said Monday.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Belzer is filming his 10th season as Detective John Munch on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." His first novel, "I Am Not A Cop", arrives in stores this week. He previously was a DGA Honors host in 2002 and 2003.

Guild President Michael Apted Monday announced Belzer will be master of ceremonies at the event to be held Thursday at the DGA Theater in New York City.

F. Murray Abraham is to present an award to Milos Forman; Taylor Hackford and Paris Barclay will present one to U.S. Rep. John Conyers Jr., D-Mich., chairman of the House Judiciary Committee; Barbara Kopple will give a prize to Irwin Young, chairman of DuArt Film and Video; Martin Scorsese is to present an award to Robert Rosen, dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television; and Sam Waterston and members of the casts of the three "Law & Order" series will present an honor to "L&O" creator and producer Dick Wolf.
