POLL: Your Opinion

 » What Do You Think

LONDON, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- The so-called safety pin dress worn by British actress Elizabeth Hurley at a 1994 event is the best red carpet gown of all time, results of a poll indicate.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

A spokesman for the British department store chain Debenhams said a poll found that the cleavage-baring dress worn by the "Bedazzled" actress at a 1994 movie premiere was named the best red carpet gown, People magazine reported Friday.

"Liz Hurley's daring safety pin dress is one of the most famous black dresses worn on the red carpet, which made her a household name overnight", the unidentified spokesman said. "Our research shows how iconic the dresses worn on the red carpet have become with many of the stars making headlines from their outfits."

The poll of 3,000 women had no reported margin of error or exact percentages, but the spokesman confirmed that actresses Audrey Hepburn and Julia Roberts took second and third on the gown list, respectively.

People said Hepburn was credited for a white flower-patterned dress she wore to the 1954 Academy Awards show, while the white vintage dress worn by Roberts at the 2001 Academy Awards event earned the "Pretty Woman" star fashion kudos.
