LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Rock musician Travis Barker said he is thankful to be alive after surviving a Learjet crash that killed four people in South Carolina last month.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Barker and celebrity disc jockey Adam "D.J. AM" Goldstein suffered burns on their hands and lower body, and were the only survivors of the Sept. 19 crash.

"I hate planes", Barker told Usmagazine.com. "My biggest fear ever is to be involved in a plane crash, so when that happened ... Well, I'm just thankful to be alive! I'm just grateful to be here at all."

Barker, who has two young children with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler, is being treated for his injuries at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.

"I am doing the best I can possibly be. I'm so anxious to get out of here", he told the magazine. "I've just been in surgery after surgery. I have third-degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands. One of my hands was second-degree burns and one was third-degree burns. I'm trying to have a quick recovery and play the drums again and be able to hold my kids again. ... I'm going nuts not being able to see them and spend time with them!"

Barker said he has been spending his time in the hospital reading and watching TV. He hopes to be back home within two weeks. Goldstein is already out of the hospital.
