EVANSTON, Ill., July 19 (UPI) -- The opening night for the highly-anticipated summer film "The Dark Knight" in Evanston, Ill., was disrupted by a power outage, a power company official says.

Joe Trost, a spokesman for the electric utility Commonwealth Edison, said those set to watch a Friday night showing of the newest film about the superhero Batman were forced to endure a delay of nearly an hour and 15 minutes, The Chicago Tribune said.

The power outage at the Century 12 movie theater was part of a major power outage in the Chicago suburb's downtown area that blacked out 800 customers.

Trost told the Tribune the power outage was caused by a damaged power line that had been battered during a series of heavy storms in the region.
