NEW YORK, July 24 (UPI) -- Donatella Versace has been hired as the interior designer for a 1909 New York building being transformed into a luxury condo complex, a developer said.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The New York Post said the iconic Italian fashion designer has been chosen to create new looks for the inside of the Clock Tower, which opened nearly a century ago as MetLife's headquarters.

Developers are renovating the property to feature 55 high-end condos. The building is scheduled to open at the end of 2010, The Post said.

"We believe the brand name of Versace plays a significant role in bringing the highest lifestyle for this clientele", Rotem Rosen, chief executive officer of developers Africa Israel, told the newspaper.
