NEW YORK, July 24 (UPI) -- Bond No. 9, a New York perfumer, says it has released its new scent, "Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue", to coincide with the late artist's 80th birthday.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Warholw, who died in 1987, would have celebrated the milestone Aug. 6.

Bond No. 9 said "Lexington Avenue" is the third in its line of Warhol-inspired collectible scents, which also include "Silver Factory" and "Union Square."

The latest scent will be sold at Bond No. 9's four New York City boutiques, www.bondno9.com, and Saks Fifth Avenue and museum stores nationwide.

Depicted on the bottle is a "Warholian fantasy collage of shoes and boots, as commissioned by I. Miller, in rich, saturated colors", the company said in a news release.

I. Miller was a tony Manhattan store Warhol worked for, illustrating shoes for newspaper advertisements, before he became famous.

Warhol is said to have taken the work so seriously he submitted one of his shoe illustrations as a gift to the Museum of Modern Art in 1956, however, it was rejected.

"With fanciful shoes the most directional fashion story in recent years, we found our theme when we discovered the rich lode of phantasmagorical shoes Warhol created on paper 50 years ahead of their time", Laurice Rahme, Bond No. 9's founder and chief executive officer said in a statement.
