| SAN DIEGO, May 11 (UPI) -- Greeting card companies are trying to maintain sales with new generations of U.S. consumers by following technological trends, industry officials say. SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS Greetings etc. magazine Editor in Chief Kathy Krassner said by equipping newer greeting cards with recordable options or embracing the use of online cards, companies are trying to tap into modern sensibilities, The San Diego Union-Tribune said Saturday. "Certainly the challenge is getting the next generation to continue buying printed greeting cards", Krassner said. "Greeting card publishers are looking for ways to attract younger buyers, including more contemporary designs, language to which the younger generation can relate, and motion and sound." For retail consumers like Daniel Corral of Oceanside, Calif., greeting cards that play music are the perfect gift for Mother's Day. He bought his mom one that plays "We Are Family."
