MIAMI, July 31 (UPI) -- The mini-season for lobsters in Florida has turned deadly with three known deaths and two divers missing in the first two days.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

The season began at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. The first death followed within hours, the Palm Beach Post reported.

No deaths were reported during last year's lobster mini-season.

Robert Canada, 48, of Lake Worth was reported missing Wednesday morning on a dive off the Gulf Stream. Off-duty Delray Beach police officers found his body in 55 feet of water.

Randall Malcolm, 54, who lived in the Miami area, died Wednesday while diving 4 miles from Key Largo.

A 32-year-old man diving with friends died Thursday near Bahia Honda. Police said he was using a hookah rig, through which air is pumped to divers underwater.

Yosmany Gonzalez, 33, who was diving off the Cape Florida Lighthouse, failed to surface at 7 p.m. Wednesday. His body had not been recovered Thursday afternoon.

A 63-year-old man disappeared Thursday morning 15 miles off Vero Beach on the west coast, WPBF-TV in Fort Pierce reported. He was on his second dive when he failed to surface.
