DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., July 13 (UPI) -- Health Communications, Inc. has stopped publishing new titles of the popular "Chicken Soup for the Soul" literary series, the Florida publisher's owner says.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Peter Vegso, whose Deerfield Beach, Fla., company is the largest publisher in South Florida, confirmed the loss of new titles in inspirational book series is a blow to his business, The Miami Herald reported Saturday.

"It just makes things a little more difficult", he told the Herald. "We now face some challenges. As one door closes, hopefully a couple of others will open."

Vegso's company lost the publication rights to new titles from series creators Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen's works July 1 when a contract between the two sides expired, the Herald said.

Instead, Canfield and Hansen have since signed the rights to new "Chicken Soup" titles over to a Connecticut investment group operated by William Rouhana and Robert Jacobs.

Vegso said HCI retained rights to the 180 titles on the "Chicken Soup" back list, however.

The Herald said the nearly 130 "Chicken Soup" titles published since 1993 have sold more than 112 million copies worldwide.
