CHICAGO, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Gas Station TV Wednesday denied reports it would run campaign ads for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama atop gas pumps in Florida.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Gas Station TV features a network of television screens on gas pumps at stations throughout the state, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday. A spokesman told UPI the company has no plans to run political advertising at any of the stations taking its service.

The Tribune said Obama ads partially blaming Republican rival John McCain for the energy crisis and $4-a-gallon gasoline were to be run and Obama supporters were planning to hand out copies of his "New Energy for America" plan at stations.

Late Wednesday Gas Station TV issued a statement confirming the Obama campaign had approached it.

"Gas Station TV did consider running political ads and was approached by multiple campaign representatives, including the Barack Obama campaign", the statement said. "In compliance with the company's editorial policy, the company made a conscious decision not to run any political ads on the Gas Station TV network as it would deviate from its standing policy."
