FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 9 (UPI) -- For the second year in a row, a technical glitch interrupted the July Fourth fireworks display in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

This year, a misfire fouled up the computer controlling the launches, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. The show last Friday night ended about halfway through.

The city switched companies to Zambelli Fireworks Internationale after last year, when a wiring problem brought the show to an unexpected end. The city had agreed to pay more than $80,000, but spokesman Chaz Adams said officials now believe that Fort Lauderdale did not get its money's worth.

"We're extremely disappointed", Adams said of this year's flub. "We hired the world's best fireworks company to put on a spectacular Fourth of July fireworks show. They did not deliver -- through no fault of the city -- and we are holding them responsible. We are currently working to resolve the situation in a fair and equitable manner."

Doug Taylor, president of Zambelli, said that the New Castle, Pa., company put on hundreds of shows this year and there was only one serious problem. He said the company hopes to work out a settlement.
