CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 22 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts doctor suspected of killing his girlfriend 15 years ago has been charged with suborning perjury to avoid a $15 million wrongful death judgment.

SAVE MONEY ON TRAVEL DEALS

Dr. Timothy Stryker appeared in court Monday charged with what Middlesex County District Attorney Gerard Leone Jr. called "this lie against the court", The Boston Globe reported. Leone said that Stryker remains a suspect in the strangling death of Dr. Linda Goudey, who was found in the back of her car at New England Memorial Hospital where she worked in 1993.

Goudey's mother, Marguerite Rafuse, sued Stryker and won a $15 million civil judgment two years ago.

Investigators say that Stryker asked a patient, Richard Chambers, who also worked for him as a handyman, to find someone who would swear to seeing Goudey with another man on the night she died. Chambers allegedly found a friend from Derry, N.H., who in turn recruited Craig Pizzano, who had just lost his job and needed money.

Pizzano testified that he had seen Goudey with a blond man. But when police discovered that he had a connection to Stryker proved by phone records he changed his story and said that Stryker offered to pay him, officials said.
